Les personnes qui choisissent d'\u00eatre v\u00e9g\u00e9taliennes s'abstiennent de manger de la viande ou des produits d'origine animale, ainsi que des sous-produits animaux. Cela inclut l'abstention de manger du fromage, des \u0153ufs, du lait, du beurre ou tout autre aliment provenant d'un animal. Cependant, les pescatariens peuvent inclure des fruits de mer dans leur r\u00e9gime, en se concentrant sur le poisson comme seule source d'aliments d'origine animale. Ils s'efforcent plut\u00f4t de consommer ces aliments <em>beaucoup moins<\/em> souvent, en se concentrant sur les fruits et l\u00e9gumes et d'autres sources d'aliments d'origine v\u00e9g\u00e9tale. Le r\u00e9gime \u00e0 base de plantes est souvent consid\u00e9r\u00e9 comme un choix de mode de vie plut\u00f4t que comme un r\u00e9gime, car les personnes ne se privent pas de groupes alimentaires entiers. Au contraire, ils choisissent seulement de manger moins souvent certains groupes d'aliments.
